A Promise of a Redeemer

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3:15

Surprise and wonderment can occur at the turn of a single word. Genesis 3:15 is full of mystery and intrigue, as a conquering promise is given to Eve over a scheming menace, whom we refer to as the serpent. The Hebrew Bible has more to offer than a few beautifully depicted sentences; it has a depth of understanding to attain and abundant promises.

Redemption for Humanity

Genesis 3:15 is a prophecy that elucidates a plan of redemption for all humanity. This scripture explains that God would manifest Himself in flesh (John 1:14), be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14), dwell among His people, and then endure a tormenting death by being crucified. Jesus, our sinless Lamb of God, bruised the serpent’s head the day he was nailed to the cross. The moment Jesus “gave up the ghost” was the moment He conquered death, hell, and the grave (cf: Matthew 27:50; Revelation 1:18; 20:10).

A reigning truth of the Bible is that God has a plan: a plan to forgive, a plan to redeem, and a plan to restore. Today, right now in this moment, there is still a promise of a Redeemer! Through God, you can be an overcomer, you can be healed, and you can be saved.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33.

Prayer: Lord, I need You to be my redeemer. Remind me that You have a plan for my life and help me to emulate You because I desire to be an overcomer, I desire to have peace, and I desire to be restored. I love you, Jesus, redeemer of my soul. Thank you for enduring the cross, for bruising the serpent’s head, and for giving me a plan of redemption.
